What is a DDoS Attack?

DDoS means Distributed Denial of Service. It is a type of attack where many fake users or bots send too many requests to your website. This makes your website slow or go offline. It’s like too many people trying to enter a small shop at the same time.

But don’t worry. You can stop this kind of attack using Cloudflare.

What is Cloudflare?

Cloudflare is a free tool that protects your website. It helps stop DDoS attacks, makes your website faster, and keeps it safe from bad people online.

Cloudflare works like a bodyguard for your website.

Step 2: Add Your Website

  1. After signing in, click Add a Site

  2. Just click Continue (no need to change anything if you’re not sure)

Step 5: Change Your Nameservers

  1. Cloudflare will give you 2 nameservers like this:

    • nina.ns.cloudflare.com

    • rob.ns.cloudflare.com

  2. Go to your domain company (example: Namecheap, GoDaddy, or wherever you bought your website name)

  3. Find the place to change nameservers

  4. Replace the old nameservers with the 2 Cloudflare ones

  5. Click Save

Step 6: Wait for Cloudflare to Activate

  1. Go back to Cloudflare dashboard

  2. Click Done, check nameservers

  3. It may take a few minutes or hours to work

Step 7: Turn on DDoS Protection

  1. On your Cloudflare dashboard, click your website name

  2. Go to Security tab

  3. Find DDoS Protection

  4. Make sure it is ON

Step 8: Set “Under Attack Mode” (Optional)

If you are already under DDoS attack, do this:

  1. Go to the Overview tab in Cloudflare

  2. At the bottom, click Enable Under Attack Mode

  3. Cloudflare will now protect your website from bots and fake traffic

That’s It!

Your website is now protected from most DDoS attacks.
